Patrice has long had an interest in various natural therapies since her teenage years. It was teaching viola da gamba (a bowed musical instrument) that actually led to her studying full time at Nature Care College in Sydney because she wanted to know what was happening physiologically when students were learning to bow the instrument. First anatomy and physiology, massage, then nutrition, rebirthing, counselling, kinesiology, lymphatic drainage, energetic healing and many other subjects were conquered.
Following her move to Queensland in 2006, Patrice undertook a Bachelor of Natural Therapies at Southern Cross University which she completed in one year with a high distinction average. More recently she has received further qualifications through Health Schools Australia. Training in other related health disciplines has also followed as part of her continuing professional training, and Patrice is currently studying for her Diploma of Training and Assessment as she loves teaching.
One of the main focal points for Saraband Health will be healing for cancer sufferers. This can be a devastating diagnosis for the whole family, and Patrice is qualified in naturopathy, rebirthing/breathwork, basic counselling, Reiki and energetic healing, and massage. This truly holistic blend can be deployed as required to suit any and all members of the family so that everyone can deal with their grief, and move on whatever the outcome.
Please note that Patrice does not profess to CURE cancer or any disease. Nobody can do that except the patient. That said, much can be done to assist on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
Patrice is a professional member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, the Complementary Medicine Association and the Australian Reiki Connection Inc. She has ATMS accreditation for naturopathy, nutrition, remedial massage and remedial therapies. CMA accredits naturopaths only. With ARC she is an accredited Reiki practitioner and master.
She holds current medical indemnity insurance, and is recognised by private health funds for naturopathic consultations and ENAR (as a TENS device).
Reiki is one of Patrice's favourite modalities. She began Reiki I with Beth Gray in 1987, and did Reiki II with Barbara McGregor in 1999. Her Reiki Master course was with Jacqui Bushell.
Patrice has a particular interest in preventive medicine and research. She hates not being able to answer a question adequately or understand what is going on inside the body, so PubMed and other health databases are constant companions. Her years working in librarianship help.
Another interest is in education. Patrice loves to give talks, teach (she holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment and taught Study Skills and Assignment writing at Nature Care College), and participate in community health events. The more people understand about what good diet, fitness and a healthy emotional life can do for them, the more disease is avoided, and the more the community saves.
Patrice holds a current Blue Card to work with children and the elderly. She is also a Commissioner for Declarations in Queensland.
Patrice is also a keen participant in Kylie Sharp's excellent Ananda Yoga classes in Kilcoy and Woodford, QLD.
